Two women walk up to the gazebo holding hands. KAREN (24) wears a purple sweatshirt and a short pixie cut with deep purple streaks under her black hair. CHARLOTTE BLACK (25) has long hot-pink hair.

 

KAREN

Hey Alea-

 

ALEASHA

Shh. On to something.

 

The two women enter the gazebo and look at each other.

 

CHARLOTTE

Maybe we should try this again when

she’s not busy.

 

KAREN

That would be never.

 

Aleasha looks up. She is instantly enamored with Charlotte and jumps to her feet.

 

ALEASHA

Hi... um... sorry about that.

 

CHARLOTTE

What are you working on?

 

ALEASHA

My thesis... Wow, you’re really

gorgeous.

 

Karen clears her throat.

 

KAREN

Aleasha, this is my girlfriend, Charlotte Black.

 

They shake hands.

 

CHARLOTTE

It’s so awesome to meet you. How’s

your thesis going?

 

ALEASHA

It’s going...

 

KAREN

We were wondering if you wanted to

go to a movie with us. I’ve barely

seen you in the dorm. Figured you

could use a break.

 

ALEASHA

I wouldn’t be ruining your date?

 

CHARLOTTE

Course not. Plus, I’d love to learn

about your thesis. Karen told me

you’re an engineer.

 

ALEASHA

If you wanna call it that. I invent

things more than anything.

 

KAREN

That crap in our dorm? All hers.

 

ALEASHA

Well, that’s not embarrassing.

Look, let me get all this shit

cleaned up and I’ll meet you guys

in our dorm?

 

KAREN

Okay. Meet you back there.

 

Aleasha nods as the couple exits. She packs up all her stuff and hurries after them.
